He’s got his easel set up in the shade of the brick office-building ready to do attractive and colorful caricatures. The 21-year old artist, drew a few cartoons for this paper early on in his career. Since that time he had attended art school and has been able to make a living in the competitive world of art. "The caricaturist at our company picnic was one of the most popular events of the day. Don was bombarded by the number of children that parents wanted sketched, and forfeited breaks to try to accomplish them all. I received a number of comments on how well Don handled the many children that were waiting to be sketched. Our parents were very impressed by his ‘bed side manner’. As for the sketches, they were great. His fees where fair in comparison with other costs that day vs. enjoyment received. Don-thanks very much. “Greetings Don; I would like to graciously thank-you for the outstanding job that you did for our swim team. The caricatures that were drawn of myself, the assistant coach, and the entire team, was fantastic. I really appreciate the time and dedication that went into each of the pictures. I have seen several other artist renditions of caricatures, but yours are superior. By having our team depicted with the caricatures, we were able to have a lot of fun with our team members and also the parents. We took each of the pictures and hung them in our entranceway of our swimming pool. The student body and the parents were able to learn who our team was very quickly. They were such a big success that after every swim meet, the most popular area was the “gallery of swimmers.” I would highly recommend this project to any group or organization that wants to have fun and enjoy a gift that can last a lifetime. The picture itself is such an artistic piece of work that I have had many individuals want to know who the artist is that drew them. I was proud to say Mr. Don Swartzentruber. "Hello Don! I've been looking for some caricature lessons on the 'net and I have almost made up my mind on a course to purchase, but I saw your site and really like your style. I am in St. Paul, MN, and I have no plans to travel long-distance for lessons right now.
